I grew up not far from here, in Innisfail, where I graduated from High School and my love of teaching was born. I had amazing, inspirational teachers, who are still supportive to this day! I love that I can keep in touch with them over social media, and when visiting my hometown. I have lived in Red Deer since my high school graduation, with a small 2 year stint in Calgary. I completed my teaching degree through the Red Deer College Collaborative Program, graduating as a University of Alberta graduate with a Middle Years specialty. I was honored to be on the Dean's list, and to receive a Student Recognition Leadership award for Innovation, Inspiration, Leadership, Courage, and Community.
I have a wonderful family; my husband, son, and daughter. We enjoy being outdoors as much as possible. Hiking, kayaking/paddleboarding, cycling, cross country skiing, baseball and various recreational games, like disc golf and can jam are high on our list. This summer we were able to hike Allstones Lake near Nordegg, and one kayaking trip we took happened to be longer than expected because of low water levels. Six and a half hours in the boat! We chalk it up to another adventure to remember!
I am excited to teach Grade 9 and 10 English and Social Studies this year. I fully expect, as all times I have taught, that the students will have a hand in teaching me some wonderful things, as I do my best to inspire and engage them in their learning, as well.
