About Me

I look forward to the fantastic opportunity to teach Social Studies this year at Hunting Hills.  Social Studies is a passion for me because we learn so much about the complexities of our country and how diverse it is.  For the past ten years I taught Social Studies and Language Arts at Eastview and Glendale Middle Schools in Red Deer.  I believe in expanding my students' critical thinking skills through the exploration of their own and other people's point of view and ideas.  Community service is also very important to me and I encourage my students to work hard and be part of the community that they live.

After working for many years running a business and raising my kids, I graduated in 2006 with my Bachelor of Education Degree from The University of Alberta.

I have been married to my wonderful husband (Parry) for 25 years.  I have two adult sons, Nolan,21 and Nathan, 18, who attended school here in Red Deer and played hockey.   Red Deer has been my home for most of my adult life and I am thankful to be part of this community.  I am looking forward to the opportunities that this coming year has to offer.
